Sure wish it would stop raining. Wife went out of town and the kids were with their dad, so I had a free weekend. To top it off Virginia let me borrow her atv too. Too bad the lights didn't work, so night riding was out of the question.
Saturday I rode Virginia's bike and met up with some people. Ended up riding most of the day. Inbetween I helped Daniel with the installation of his 4:56 gears and ez locker. Also welded up the cracked frame too. We finally finished it late and he went home. Matt decided it was a good idea to sit inside the tubes till the thunderstorm blew over and ended up swamping his truck with water over the steering wheel. We rode down to inspect the carnage and called it a night after that.
We had planned to trail ride on sunday, so Straw hat Tim showed early as well as Jojo and Ricky Milstead. Jojo was still installing some new brake lines on his truck so we all went to the clay hills and blasted up the slop. Didn't take long and Jojo was up and running. We went down to the squeeze and made a bypass to get around the giant mud hole. Got a blister on my thumb from the machette too. From there we went down the lumberjack without incident untill we got to the big hill. We lined up and gassed it.....didn't quite make it over the top. We backed up and hit it again, made it right to the top when all of a sudden the transmission was full of nuetral. We backed it down and found the cover popped off the governor assembly. After a little diggin we found the cover, so we beat it on with Tim's shackle. Luckily he also had an extra gallon of atf so we poured in what we had. Seemed like the transmission was fine so we cruised on, but not till everyone climbed the hill that beat us.
From there we went down leaping lizards, up the pipeline, down sunday afternoo, and circled back through the oh shit trail. We decided to try out the squeeze, with Ricky going first. He crawled right through, so we were next in line. The water was way deep, as it covered the seat in the blazer. Jojo tried to pull us back but a giant tree root had a hold around the front tire. Ricky saved the day and pulled us out forward and got us to high ground. Ended up with a gallon of water in the oil pan, so we had to drian it . Then the starter didn't want to work. We beat the snot out of it until we found the battery cable was loose. Finally got it to turn over and it still wouldn't start. Checked the cap but it was dry, so we tried it one more time and presto....it was up and running again We ended up by the washouts by first beach and we took turns climbing some of the washes. Jojo laid his truck completely on the side and drove it out only to taco the tie rod. Luckily Tim had Daniel's old bronco so we took the tie rod off that and were up and running in no time flat.
From there we went to second beach and ran up meandering meadows to the tubes. There we found Matt's truck already pulled up to high ground so J.D. pulled it back with the blazer. We set the truck up in the field and Jojo and Daniel took turns ramming it with their trucks, after that I finished it off with the backhoe. You can't even tell it's a ford anymore. We also had a chevy truck which fell victim too. Jojo finally broke a front axle bad enough to where it took out the ball joints and lost the whole wheel and tire assembly.
By now it was getting dark so we headed over to the waffle house for some much needed grub. Had a great time, hope to have some pics emailed to me soon..........
